Awareness campaign for youth on Sexual Gender-Based Violence Prevention, Response, SRHR and Human Rights
In partnership with PLAN INTERNATIONAL and MELANIA FOUNDATION, awareness campaigns were conducted for youth in Gatsibo and Rwamagana, focusing on the prevention and response to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), as well as promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and fundamental human rights. Through interactive sessions, discussions, and community engagement activities, young people were equipped with accurate information and practical knowledge to recognize, prevent, and respond to cases of violence and abuse.
The campaign created a safe and inclusive space for open dialogue, encouraging youth to challenge harmful norms, address stigma, and advocate for equality and respect within their communities. Participants were also guided on available support systems, reporting mechanisms, and the importance of seeking timely help.
By strengthening awareness and building confidence, the initiative empowered young people to become informed advocates and change-makers. It fostered a culture of accountability, respect, and dignity, enabling youth to actively contribute to safer communities and the protection of human rights in Gatsibo and Rwamagana.
